What’s your first reaction when you discover that a long holiday is coming up? Your reaction would probably be that your ecstatic and can’t wait to escape from the daily routine of education, learning and homework. But your happiness would soon be over when you realise that you have nothing planned for the holidays. You think that there’s nothing more doing than watching TV, playing games and going on MSN all day, right? Wrong.

Guatemala: A diminishing country
Although Guatemala is known for its found native background, its country conceals a truth that is too foul to name.
In 1996 the long fought civil war ended and Mayan rebels that led the uprising against the army, who had a treaty with the US, created a new motive- to extinguish the guerrillas from society.
Approximately 200,000 people were either killed or had fled in fear. The majority of these were civilians. 93% of all murders that had taken place during the battle onslaught had been committed by security forces.

Maguire chose to tell the tale from a different perspective. The two witches go through the struggles of their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry of the same love, the reaction to the wizard’s corrupt government, and the ultimately the witch’s public fall from grace. We are also reunited with old friends the Tin Man and the Scarecrow. With over 20 songs packed into two acts, this really is a showstopper!
