Extract From Human Nature

Aching for such companionship, the heart
Yearns for adventure, to be brave and seen,
With valour and grace all taking a part.
It lies dormant in thought and lives in dreams
Of such fanc’ful impossibilities.

Celebrate This Vaisakh!

Vaisakh is the first month of spring in the Indian Calendar, and the first day of the month – Vaisakhi – is a time when everyone celebrates the beginning of spring and hope for a good new year. In the Punjab region especially, it used to be a festival where the farmers gathered together to start the season and prepare for the toil of growing new crops. However, one event in history has come to change this day forever.

The light on near-death experiences

One of the world’s most predominant controversies has been between religion and science. Ever since the universe came into existence, these two warriors have been battling it out against each other to prove their point. One topic which seems to raise concern is the argument for life after death.

Scientists have now formulated a theory that eliminates this phenomenal possibility from every ethical textbook. They say that near-death experiences are merely ‘a trick of the mind’.

Russian Terror as Terrorists Strike Again

On Monday 29th of March at around 4 o’clock, two female suicide bombers died each one at two different Moscow Metro train stations. Officials say that at least 35 people have been killed and more than 70 injured, including children. The first blast happened in Lubyanka station which is below the central FSB intelligence agency offices at 0356 (GMT) or 0756 (Local Time). Approximately 40 minutes later a second explosion ripped through a train waiting at Park Kultury station.

St Patrick’s Day Special!

Top o’ the mornin’ to you! Have a pint o’ Guinness on me!” This is probably the general reaction we have when we think of St Patrick’s Day. So just how did the day dedicated to celebrating the Patron Saint of Ireland become so stereotypically about drinking and river dancing?

Book Review - Brisingr

Brisingr is Christopher Paolini’s exciting new addition to the epic fantasy series, The Inheritance Cycle. Originally set to be a trilogy, Paolini was forced to extend the books into four volumes, but don’t fret, the story is still pretty intense. First started by Paolini when he was just fifteen years old, Eragon quickly rose to success, becoming the third-best-selling children's hardback book of 2003, the second-best-selling paperback of 2005, and has had a place on the New York Times Bestseller List for 121 weeks.

Frightful Forest Forage

Life’s Journey

Chugging along on the railway of life
Between the two final stations
Revelling and enjoying the journey
’Til we reach the destination

The steamer hisses up to the platform
The doors roll open in greeting
With a hoot and a whistle and a grunt and a shout
It moves off in a blur oh so fleeting
